China Mosaic Flooring

Chinese exports from Macao created a taste for China. It is rumoured that a substantial portion arrived as ballast used on Ships.Once the craze set in,broken pottery and pottery intentionally broken were used as flooring in prime areas of the Mansions.

The nature of material gave Goans an opportunity to express their individuality with abandon.Birds, Animal, Insects and Plants were common themes. And the Goan settled in Africa used African animals, birds and plants.
